Careers in Music: Copyist

A copyist creates the final copy of a musical score. Copyists must have excellent music manuscript skills, and know how to use current notation software such as Sibelius and Finale.  They should also be aware of all the transpositions of all musical instruments.  

Establishing your reputation for quality, accuracy, and on-time project completion is very important to your success as a copyist.  It is recommended that copyists begin their career working for an established music copyist service to gain experience in the industry.
