About the Composer
Johann Sebastian Bach (31 March 1685 – 28 July 1750) was a German composer, organist, harpsichordist, violist, and violinist whose ecclesiastical and secular works for choir, orchestra, and solo instruments drew together the strands of the Baroque period and brought it to its ultimate maturity. Danny Boy | Free Easy Piano Sheet Music

“Danny Boy” was written by the English lawyer and lyricist Frederick Weatherly in 1910. Although the lyrics were originally written for a different tune, Weatherly modified them to fit “Londonderry Air” in 1913 when she sent Weatherly a copy. Ernestine Schumann-Heink made the first recording in 1915. Weatherly gave the song to the vocalist Elsie Griffin, who in turn made it one of the most popular songs in the new century. Read more on Wikipedia

Danny Boy | Free Easy Piano Sheet Music

Lyrics
Oh Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling
From glen to glen, and down the mountain side
The summer’s gone, and all the roses falling
‘Tis you, ’tis you must go and I must bide
But come ye back when summer’s in the meadow.
Or when the valley’s hushed and white with snow
‘Tis I’ll be here in sunshine or in shadow
Oh Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so.

But when ye come, and all the flowers are dying
If I am dead, as dead I well may be
You’ll come and find the place where I am lying
And kneel and say an “Ave” there for me.
And I shall hear, tho’ soft you tread above me
And all my grave will warmer, sweeter be
For ye shall bend and tell me that you love me
And I shall sleep in peace until you come to me.

Suggestions for Practice and Performance

1) Practice each measure slowly and carefully.  You will learn the piece faster, improve at a greater speed, and play the piece with more precision.

2) Making a good tone should always be more important than going fast.  It’s fun to go fast, though it is best to be patient until you know the piece well.

3) Think about your breath support.  Good breath support can make all the difference in playing with a good tone and playing with endurance.
